Michael
Hi, I’m Michael Jamin and you are listening to screenwriters need to hear this on this podcast. We talk about all things, screenwriting, how to break into the business and how to be a better screenwriter and how to live a more creative lifestyle. So a little about me, I’ve been a professional television writer for 26 years. Uh, my first job, uh, was Lois and Clark, The Adventures of Superman. I did a freelance of that. And then later I became a staff writer on just shoot me. And then I worked on King of the Hill for many years. I did Beavis and Butthead. I wrote on Wilfred, Marin Brickleberry rules of engagement, Tacoma FD I’ve sold numerous pilots, uh, dozens or so, uh, and I have, I sold two screenplays to 20th Century Fox. So I’ve got a varied background in screenwriting. I’ve done multi-camera single camera, a lot of animation. And so we’re going to talk about how to get into the business from my end and what I look for in young writers and how, how I think they should come up. And we also, this podcast is co-hosted by my friend, Phil Hudson, who is on the verge of breaking it. So we’re going to tackle it from, from that point of view as well, Phil.

Phil
Yeah. And, uh, you know, I was, uh, I’ve got a bachelor’s degree in screenwriting. I was a Robert Redford scholar. I’ve translated for the Sundance Screenwriting Labs and for the Director’s labs, I’ve been a Writer’s PA, an Office PA, a Set PA, Post PA, and, you know, like you said, it am working my way up my ladder. So I think for me, this is a cool opportunity to hear two different perspectives about what it takes to break into the industry, be a professional writer, how to improve your craft. And I’ve known Michael for over a decade. And during that time, I’ve learned a ton from him that have helped me progress in all aspects of the small career I’ve had so far and hopefully a larger career.
